In 2009, I carved the zombie Michael Jackson from the 1983 music video "Thriller." I created the pattern from a photograph. It took three hours to design the pattern and five hours to prepare and carve the pumpkin. (For the record, the Thriller pattern on The Pumpkin Wizard did not exist when I carved this pumpkin; my pattern turned out better anyway.)
The photo is a little distorted, because the tripod was not quite tall enough, and the pumpkin leans back. Unfortunately, this caused the top of the hairline not to show up well in the photo.
I kept it on ice, so it was still fresh last night. However, I put it out with the garbage, because if I wait until next week (the next garbage day), it will stink.
I get a little sad every year.
